Qiu Ying (1498-1552), also known by his zi (courtesy name) Shifu and his hao (literary name) Shizhou, was a native of Taicang, Jiangsu province. Trained under the painter Zhou Chen, he excelled in landscapes and figures, and was particularly renowned for his skillful emulation of ancient masters. His works are distinguished by meticulous execution, refined elegance, vivid coloration, and a strong decorative appeal. He is recognized as one of the Four Great Masters of the Ming dynasty.
